Novosti iz Maca za 2011 a nešto fotki novih krila na: http://www.macpara.com

Dear Damir
In the year 2011 we will come out with few new products.

1. The Muse 3 - Basis Intermediate - LTF/EN-B similar like Muse 2 but with
few more cells. Estimated date of serial production 03/2011. Muse 3 in size
L is already undergoing certification process.

2. The Yukon - Lightweight glider - LTF/EN-B similar like Muse 3 with design
like Magus XC2 with one cell more then Muse 3. Estimated date of serial
production 05/2011 Certification closed to serial production.
This glider should be much lighter then the Velvia. The only problem is
shortage of Skytex 27 by Porcher Sport. May it will delay the serial
production.

3. The Orinoco is high perfomance glider - high end of LTF/EN-C category.
Similar to Magus XC2 with less cells and less max speed. Placed into
different category.
This glider shoul not replace the Envy 2 as the Envy 2 is more low end 2
category glider. We will keep Envy 2 in our range in 2011.

4. The T-Ride is a special paramotoring glider for heavy trikes up to 400 kg
in size 35qm. It uses RFE technology with the plastic rods like Magus XC2.

5. The Chronos is a special paramotoring glider for pilots who don`t like
reflex gliders because of high fuel consumption. This will be placed between
Velvet and MacJet. Estimated date of serial production 05/2011.

6. Rescues Aegis 30 Light and Aegis 63 Light are under certification
process.

7. Hawaii harness is certified to LTF and EN.

Try to stay in the middle of the air. Do not go near the edges of it. The edges can be recognised by the appearance of ground, buildings, sea, trees and interstellar space. It is much more difficult to fly there.

Izašao je test Macovog najjačeg krila u EN C klasi ili DHV 2 u novom broju Cross Country Magazina koji prenosim sa Mac int. stranice; http://www.macpara.com/en/product-news/marvel-test.html

Mac Para Marvel Review (Cross Country Magazine)

Marcus King loves the handling of this Sports Class wing

MAC PARA’S DESCRIPTION

The Marvel offers sporty agility and amazing performance in the EN C category. It is the perfect glider for pilots who want performance and XC capability.

BACKGROUND

Mac Para are one of the long-time established brands in our sport. They have had a consistent range of wings over the last few years: from the Progress starter wing to the Magus XC Serial Class racer with the Magus as their Open Class flagship.
Their Sports Class wing has been the Envy series, currently in its second incarnation. We tested the Envy2 back in issue 127 and found a wing that, “was no more demanding than most 1-2 [EN B] wings,” but that had, “an extra dose of performance”.
When at this year’s Kossen Testival Mac Para’s designer Peter Recek told me that the proto we were watching coming into land was their new project that was being designed to fit in the EN C above the Envy, I was keen to get a chance to fly it.
Peter said: “When we were testing the Magus XC2 we realised with a few modifications we had the potential for a very good EN C wing.
“With the Marvel we are looking to achieve similar performance to the Magus XC2 combined with great climbing ability and lovely handling. ”

CONSTRUCTION

As so often seems the case with Mac Para wings the design of the wing is very clean and classical. The aspect ratio of 6.48 is nearly in EN D territory; Ozone’s M4 has an AR of 6.5. This high aspect ratio combined with a cell count of 75 and the familiar Mac Para colour scheme help create the impression of a sleek racy wing.
The sail itself is made from Porcher 45g/m2 on the leading edge with 40g/m2 used elsewhere. This along with other savings have helped Mac Para keep the overall weight down, which has to be good in this class of wing that will often be used by travelling adventure pilots.
It seems that these days you can’t have a wing without nylon rods in the leading edge and the Marvel follows this trend. The rods go back a good 20cm or so along the chord; not as much as some but more than others. The leading edge is entirely open except for the cells in the tip.
Going to the back of the wing one modern innovation is conspicuous by its absence: Peter and the team have opted to go for a classic trailing edge rather than use mini ribs.
The risers are made from suitably thin webbing, which add to the racy feel. The design is relatively simple with just three risers – from each of which the three main lines come. Only the A riser is split. Three sheathed main lines are attached to each riser with the stabilo also attached to the B riser. Although the wing has three lines on each side it isn’t a true three-liner as the C lines split to two tab positions in the centre of the wing. The upper lines are all unsheathed.
The speed system makes use of large Harken pulleys and also features a step-down ball making half-bar easy to find. The brake handles are standard webbing handles attached via magnets and have a swivel to prevent line twisting.
The wing is available in four certified sizes covering a weight range of 70kg to 130kg. There is also a Marvel 38 with a weight range of 140kg to 185kg but this is uncertified.

LAUNCHING

During the test period – a three-week trip to Nepal – I launched in a wide range of conditions. The wing proved to be easy to launch whether reversing in windy or thermic conditions, or forward launching during the day’s last gasps. All my launches saw the wing rise smoothly and it took little controlling once overhead.

IN THE AIR

As soon as you are in the air you get a true feel for the lineage of this wing. If you have flown any of the new breed of EN D wings it will feel very familiar. You will have the same taught feel of a single wing cutting through the air. However, it all just feels that little bit more relaxed – but without feeling dumbed-down.
The wing is engaging to fly and there is a good level of information on hand to help you find the best lift. But all the information is passed on smoothly and there are no sudden surges or jumps to unsettle you. Undoubtedly this wing needs a little more piloting than a lower-end EN C wing, but the information fed to you means you will naturally fly the wing actively.
The Marvel uses bunching in the brake system where the brake lines go through loops on the trailing edge that are pulled together with the initial application of the brakes. This helps the wing turn quickly but flat. Indeed this wing doesn’t exhibit large amount of roll – that isn’t to say you can’t get it up on a wingtip by applying a measure of weightshift as well as increasing the amount of brake.
The lack of roll may mean it is less ‘exciting’ to fly, but it makes for efficient climbing. The brake pressure itself isn’t high but starts to ramp up as you get towards the stall point, giving plenty of warning of an incipient spin.

ON LOCATION

I took the wing to Nepal during the test period. In the stable conditions of Pokhara the wing climbed effortlessly through the crowds. Once into the bigger hills and stronger thermals a bit more brake and weightshift got it easily centred. In thermals the wing was easy to keep locked in, and the smooth transition between flat and banked made it easy to stay with the lift as you climbed through the various layers of air. I found the handling so natural that I could leave the thermalling to my subconscious, allowing me to plan the next move or simply to enjoy the view opening up around me.
When it’s time to head off on glide the wing shows its top-notch performance for the class. Gliding at trim the wing feels fast and efficient, as you would expect. With the large pulleys the speedbar is smooth and doesn’t require much force to apply. Going to half-bar gives a good increase in speed with no real noticeable increase in sink rate – indeed there is no steep drop off going pulley to pulley. The wing feels reassuringly solid on bar and cuts through the air nicely. It’s possible to keep in touch with the wing through the C risers but I found very little need to correct the wing on glides. Glide performance is always hard to put meaningful figures on, but from the glides I made on this wing I’m confident that it will put a smile on your face.

CONCLUSION

In a year of confusion in the world of Open and Serial Class racing we may well see a lot of pilots turning to the Sports Class to get their racing kicks. I’d be very surprised if we don’t see the Marvel amongst the wings at the front of the pack. When not racing, take it to the hills for big days out or even further afield for some adventure.
I’ve long loved the Sports Class and this is a fine example. It combines really well-crafted handling and overall performance that you expect from higher class wings, with an extra level of safety that gives you that bit more confidence.

WE LIKED MOST
Climbing efficiency and smooth handling

WE’D RECOMMEND IT TO
XC and Adventure pilots plus Sports Class racers

Mora da me Alzheimer posjetio kada me kupci moraju podsjetit da sam zastupnik za MacPara opremu.

MAC PARA Elan

During eight months of exhausting redesigning, the MAC PARA team tested and compared many different prototypes. These are newly designed “SharkNose” airfoils, 3D shaping, miniribs, etc. These new advancements paired with different systems of line geometry went through rigorous skepticism.

A too sensitive (nervous) canopy, average performance or a light lack of climb performance resulted in the termination of the prototype. You will be pleased that the final product called the Elan is an exceptional glider with super clean surface. It has excellent performance feel and a wide speed range. It also provides incredible flight comfort and good stability.

Light weight and Easy to Launch Anywhere

Intensive testing went into the development of the handling characteristics of the Elan. The result is a well-balanced glider with simple take-off’s and manageable behavior during extreme maneuvers. The Elan has an aspect ratio of 6.18 and weighs only 5.65 kg for the medium size. It is positioned well in the EN C category with an impressive 62 cells. This is incredible with its total weight being so low.
Reap the Benefits of Advanced Technology

The newly designed airfoils (the distinctive shark-nose) delivers exceptional glide, inflight stability and launch advantages. Their smooth shape is maintained by reinforced Mylar support panels combined with nylon “C rod” technology. The external result is a sporty silhouette with an elliptical form.
That’s not all.
The unique shape of the leading edge makes the Elan faster to inflate. This new airfoil design also increases the gliders internal pressure resulting in easier launches.
In turbulence the Elan maintains exceptional stability and resistance to collapses. This will require minimal inputs with your brakes or correction via the C risers by accelerated flight.

Peak Performance Contributors

The top lines are made from thin unsheathed Cousin Vectran competition lines to achieve incredible glide. The bottom lines are assembled with sheathed Edelrid Kevlar lines.
The selection of line materials are a result of years of experience and a proven history choosing different types of lines. Be glad to know that the Elan will have the best longevity without the need for constant geometry correction or the need of full line set replacement.
It also features thin risers with high quality HARKEN ball bearing pulleys. A loop on C strap aids for stabilizing the wing during accelerated flight.
The risers have standard split “A’s” to facilitate easy Big Ears and the positioning of the outermost “A” line makes regaining level flight easy. You will find the opening is smooth and predictable and can be assisted by some brake input.

Shaped to Perfection

3D shaping offers not only new color design on the canopy but increased aerodynamic smoothness. Special miniribs on the trailing edge, higher arc, new design of the stabilizer all help to reduce the drag and increase the performance of the Elan. Rigidity of the canopy together with reinforced diagonals, line geometry and impeccable craftsmanship has been optimized for enjoyable flight comfort.
The unique bunching design on the trailing edge is the secret to precise handling with outstanding climbing performance. MAC PARA has used this style on gliders for 20 years.

Evo šta o Elanu 26 kaže planetarno popularni Ziad na svojem situ;
http://www.dustoftheuniverse.com/
Mac Para Elan 26

Looking the the new Mac para Elan, showed a more clean and better construction than before. The sewing are very neat and the finish is excellent !

The Elan has a shark nose, with a new and simple interesting construction.

The lower lines are sheathed and the upper ones are unsheathed.

The thin risers looks very sporty, with the handles on the C risers very well placed !

Launching the Elan is straightforward and simple.

In the air :
The Elan takes it’s pilot quickly in charge for a quick take off. Once in the air i could sense an immediate feel of comfort as the Elan gives that nice confidence inspiring feel !

Flying the Elan at 97 all up on the 26 gives an average brake travel that enable it’s pilot to be in charge whatever the conditions throws at him.

The brake pressure is also medium to light and the brake response are quite good, with a description as precise, crispy, direct…Finally…A joy to steer !

I felt that once i encounter a thermal the Elan react as a spring immediately going upward without any delay !

Flying the Elan in turbulence is quite disconcerting for a C.You have to ask your friend later if the conditions were rough…or not…Because under the Elan the pilot is always a VIP on a couch.

Saying that doesn’t mean that the Elan is very dampened. It does inform it’s pilot exactly enough about the conditions of the day without being too hot to handle !
The Elan reaction and comfort in turbulence goes more on the Eden 5 side rather than on the Marvel side !
It could clearly be a pilot first C as it’s movement in turbulence are rather soft and the overall reactions are rather smooth and not stiff !

Later i gave the Elan to my friend who flew it at 100 all up just on top. And i took the Delta 2 SM at 92 all up, 3 kg below max.
Trim speed is the same for 4 km. The glide also in head wind.
The top speed is on the Delta 2 side with +1 km/h only .The glide at full speed is also the same !

Climbing together in weak thermal showed that they are also inseparable.
My friend bought another Elan immediately after landing ! His large smile was better than any comment…

Performance :
After many glides with my reference top C glider, showed that even with it’s thicker normal lower lines, the Elan finally stands equally performant ! In glide at trim, accelerated and in climb !
The plus comes in favor of the Elan for it’s much more comfort use.
I asked the designer for the purpose using the thick sheathed lower lines His explanation is a longer use with the same stable performance for the Elan without pilots fearing for 'an out of trim' situation !

An idea came to my mind...Imagine a lighter ,thin line version !!!

Conclusion :
Yes they did it !
If you are looking for a comfortable C glider with very nice coordinated handling, and excellent overall performance on the top of the C category for the time being, then you must get an ELAN for a test flight. May be you won’t return it back Wink
